NEW YORK, NY— In response to the 2026 Midterm Election results, the NAACP New York State Conference issued the following statement:
“Yesterday, voters across New York exercised their fundamental right to vote. In communities throughout our state, Black New Yorkers demonstrated once again that when we organize, our voices will not be silenced. But one thing is true, turnout among Black New Yorkers shows that there is still more work to be done to draw excitement and energy. Campaigns must do everything they can to speak to voters, engage them, and meet them where they are.
“While ballots continue to be counted in critical races across New York, the NAACP New York State Conference remains steadfast in our demand that every qualified vote be recorded transparently and completely. We extend our deepest gratitude to the election workers, poll monitors, and volunteers across our branches who worked tirelessly to ensure that every eligible voter could cast a ballot safely, securely, and without delay.
“As newly elected and returning leaders prepare to take office in Albany and in Washington, we look forward to working alongside them to ensure the needs of Black New Yorkers are met. This election may be over, but our work is not. We remain committed to staying engaged, organized, and united in this critical work though 2028 and beyond.”
