Reimagined
6th Dr. Hazel N. Dukes Legacy Awards

Dr. Hazel N. Dukes’ life mission was to affirmatively champion the youth. In this signature and sole dinner that Dr. Dukes had blessed in her name, the New York State NAACP Youth & College Division honors her. This is a Youth & College fundraiser produced by the youth for programming, advocacy, and capacity building. Our legacy continues in this 6th installment as we curate an event in a physical representation of her life's achievement: mentorship.

Our issues, our fight

Mission

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People New York State Conference, Youth & College Division strives for a liberated society where all persons have equal rights without discrimination based on race or age. We strive daily to leverage social, political,  and economic power to fight for all of our rights to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education, and economic security of young Black people and all persons of color in New York State.

Youth President's Statement

In pursuit of the most just, most fair, and most free society, we cannot afford to fall victim to–or neglect the study of–the many violences that oppress our people. We must lead with courage, learn with discipline, organize with wisdom, and fight injustice with all our might; the NAACP New York State Youth & College has accepted this call to action and will leave a legacy of dynamic leaders in its path.
