Hazel N. Dukes Plaque Unveiling in Harlem, NY

On Sunday, June 30, 2019 our very own NAACP New York State Conference President and Living Civil Rights Legend, Dr. Hazel N. Dukes was honored with her very own plaque on the corner of 137th Street and Adam Clayton Powell,. Jr. Blvd in Harlem, USA. It was a beautiful day to make history, hosted by the Migdol Organization, headed by Gerald, Sherri and Aaron Migdol.

Dr. Dukes was surrounded by family, friends, Harlem residents, and visitors from near and far. Additionally, a host of New York City heavyweights all stood up one after the other to pay homage to the Civil Rights Icon, including but not limited to Gerald S. Migdol, Esq as the keynote speaker; Former New York Mayor David N. Dinkins; NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams; State Senator Brian Benjamin; Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer; Congressman Charles B. Rangel; Congressman Adriano Espaillat; Comptroller Scott Stringer; Assemblywoman Inez E. Dickens; Assemblyman Al Taylor; New York City County Leader Keith L. Wright; Minister Abdul Hafeez Muhammad; Community Board 10 Chair Cicely Harris; and received special congratulatory letters from Governor Andrew Cuomo, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Attorney General Letitia James, and US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. The event concluded with an emotional and inspiring speech from the honoree herself, that exemplified why she is so deserving of the plaque and promising her work is not yet done.

After the beautiful bronzed plaque was unveiled, the celebration continued across the street at Ruby’s Vintage.
